The Mark of Athena is about the reunification of Roman and Greek Demi-gods and more importantly the reunification of Percy and Annabeth. Annabeth is challenged to go on a solo quest to save her mom and find the Athena Parthenos.
Some notes I took in the beginning of my reading of this book:
Chapter 1: Annabeth is awfully annoying complaining and whining about Percy\"s changes when they get to the Roman camp. Similar to the way Piper was acting annoying about Jason in the Lost Hero.
Chapter 7: The sense of mystery to figure out which mythological character we are gonna meet. In this case I first guessed Apollo, then Cupid, and I finally got it right with Narcissus.
Chapter 8: This chapter reminded me from the seen in Moana where Maui and Moana are trying to get the hook back from the big bad crab Tomatoa (remember the song Shiny, yeah that scene) but with Hazel, Narcissus and Leo.
Chapter 9: I dreaded getting to this chapter because Piper annoys me so much and this is her first appearance in The Mark of Athena.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
This is the second book of the Kane Chronicles and Camp Half Blood Chronicles crossover series. I did not read the first of this crossover series. Even if you didn’t start the crossover series with the first book or didn’t read the Kane Chronicles it is very easy to understand without context. Sadie and Annabeth did not know each other yet so we got introduced to both of them. This short story is told from the perspective of Annabeth. I already knew a lot about Annabeth so this made it really easy to understand and I would love to be challenged by.the story being told from Sadie.
I would rate these a 3.75/5 stars.
